Songs for Samhain

Songs for Samhain

4.00

Samhain is an ancient festival that once marked the end of harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year. It is thought that at Samhain, the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass back and forth between the realms.

This small collection of poetry was kindled by childhood memories with my friend Sophie. We spent hours playing in her beautiful garden, encircled by trees and wildlife, and for a while we decided to pursue a serious career in witchcraft. We wrote spells and magical magazines to develop our craft, and combined wild plants, condiments and shower gels to
create powerful potions.

I no longer depend on witchcraft to help me through the day, nor have I turned to religion to guide me. Instead, I find solace and spirituality in the natural world. It renews, grows and moves forward, and for everything that draws people to religion or the supernatural, I find it all in nature. I love the sense of being part of something greater than myself, living on in the universe when my body becomes part of other living things. I believe the closer we align ourselves with the cycles and rhythms of nature, the happier and richer our lives will be.
