Guildford Book Festival

I can’t believe we’re already half way through October! This has been my first year as a published author - and what a glorious year it’s been. I’ve travelled around the country to speak at country shows, gardening fairs, literary festivals and wildlife evenings, sharing my book with others and helping to engage people with nature.

Last weekend I was invited to get involved with the Guildford Book Festival in Surrey. I led two guided walks through the beautiful grounds of Hatchlands Park, a National Trust property just outside Guildford. Both events sold out and we spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the park, identifying hedgerow berries and nuts - and even a flock of parakeets!

I also brought along a few of my hedgerow jam biscuits for my fellow walkers to try, and I illustrated a little map of our route for everyone to take home. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a beautiful afternoon in the autumn sunshine.

Earlier in the week I also attended the launch of the festival in the heart of Guildford, where I talked more about my book and how I wanted to write it. I have a small number of events still to go this autumn before I have a festive break, so please say hello if I see you anywhere. I’ve now started planning my calendar for 2019, so if you have an idea for an event or you’d like me to deliver a talk next year, I would love to chat! As well as my first book Food You Can Forage, I have two more books coming out next year - details can be found under the ‘Books’ tab. Please do get in touch if you have an idea and I’d love to discuss it further.
